How do we celebrate our children’s achievements?
Each week, we celebrate the hard work and efforts of all our children through Friday Celebration Assembly. Teachers identify 3 children who have either made progress towards targets, worked consistently hard or completed an outstanding piece of work to become the ‘star of the week’.
Through our house system, all children, in every class can earn house points which go towards an individual awards certificate. The house that earns the most number of points each term receives a ‘House Reward’.
Children are rewarded with raffle tickets for showing positive attitudes, learning and behaviour. Every Friday 2 children will receive a prize if their ticket is drawn. We are very keen in Squirrel class to see positive behaviour, children receive lots of verbal praise for this.
What are the homework expectations for my child?
Homework, which is relevant to their week’s learning, will be sent home every Friday and is due the following Wednesday. Year 1 will receive homework later on in the academic year.
Your child will be given spellings every Friday. There are 4 different spelling groups named after animals. Their spelling sheet is due in each Friday.
It is the expectation that all children in all year groups read to an adult ideally every day.
There are useful links about how to support your child at home in the phonics, reading, writing and maths sections of our website
